Summer of Scouting

This has been a busy summer for Brandon. He spent the first few weeks of vacation working very hard to finish up his bear badge. I didn't think he'd finish in time for scout camp, but I was wrong. He got awarded his bear patch the week before camp, and was so excited. He wanted both Mark and I to be there at the pack meeting to see him get his awards. You'll notice in the photo that Mark, the anti-scout, is wearing a shirt that looks suspiciously like a uniform. This may cause those of you who know Mark to smile, but believe it or not, he is the wolf den leader for our pack and is doing a fantastic job.

Two weeks after earning his Bear, Brandon got to go to Cub Scout Camp for the first time. (Last summer we were out of town during camp.) Some of his favorite activities were archery and BB gun shooting (He is such a boy!) but he also really liked the cooking class. He came home with glory stories about the great dish they made with little hotdogs and how he had cherry cobbler that was "soooo good". This wouldn't mean much, if you didn't know that at one point my kids could have competed for the title of World's Pickiest Eaters.

Do you think if they made broccoli at scout camp he would learn to like that too? Maybe I'll have to suggest it for next year.
