Eight is Great

Bryce turned eight last Thursday. We woke up to snow and icy streets, so school was canceled, lucky kid, but everything cleared up in time for his big party on Friday--double lucky!

Bryce really wanted a big party with a whole bunch of friends spending the night in a tent in the backyard. Mom and Dad wanted a quieter affair with just a few friends who didn't spend the night. Being the great parents that we are, we "compromised" by making Bryce do things our way. But, even though nobody slept in a tent, we still had a good time.

Bryce invited 6 of his buddies to go ice skating and then we all came back to the house for pizza and cake. We had fun, and the whole outing was, surprisingly, much calmer than I had expected.

It blows my mind that Bryce is now as old as Natalie was when we moved here. Where has all the time gone?
