Mark's Bathroom Accident

Mark usually opts for the do-it-yourself haircut. It saves him time and money. Every few weeks he pulls out the clippers and gives himself a buzz. He usually uses a #2 guard so that his hair is nice and short and he doesn't have to do anything with it. Like many things in our house, we bought our hair clippers at a high-quality retail establishment. However, over the last couple of years, they have not been working like they should. I think there is a short in the cord or something. On Saturday when Mark went to give himself a haircut, the clippers were not working properly. They kept running very slowly--too slowly too cut anything. So Mark removed the guard and fiddled around with the clippers to try and get them to speed up. After a minute of banging and shaking they seemed to be working so he quickly did a pass over the top of his head before the clippers ran out of juice again. It took only a fraction of a second to realize his mistake, but it was too late. He had forgotten to put the guard back on the clippers and had just buzzed a strip from his forehead to his neck to about the length of whisker stubble. At this point his options were pretty limited. He could sport a reverse mohawk for a few weeks or just buzz the rest of the hair the same length. While the former would have been more interesting, Mark went with the latter. He wore a hat for most of the weekend and made several people smile with his account of his 'accident' when he went to work on Monday. He even got compliments on his skull. Now, a few days after the incident, Mark's hair is already starting to grow back in. In a couple of weeks it will be back to normal. Who knows, he may decide that he enjoys the extra time between cuts and opt for the stubble-cut next time as well.
