This is what Emily looked like this morning when she had to get up for school after only about 6 hours of sleep: (The smile is fake.)
Going out on a school night was probably not the best idea, but the tour was only in Nashville for one night. Today (Friday) it is going to be in Atlanta which is about 3 hours away. We thought we would rather drive less and deal with a grouchy Emily for a day than to have to go all the way to Atlanta.
Emily was complaining this morning that her throat was sore from screaming and her ears were still ringing from the music--two signs of someone who had a lot of fun. They had seats just a few yards away from the balance beam so she got to see Nastia Luikin and Shawn Johnson (her favorite) really close!
Mark has been teasing Emily this morning because, during one part of the show, the male gymnasts dressed up as the Jonas Brothers and did a lip-sinc number to Burnin' Up, and Emily was so busy screaming for the "Jonas Brothers" that she missed what Mark thought was the best trick of the night--a triple back flip off the high bar. But she did see a lot of other cool moves, including Nastia's trademark one-legged front flip on the balance beam.
Emily was hoping there would be a chance to get autographs. She even brought one of her gymnastics shirts and a sharpie just in case she got a chance to meet Shawn Johnson and ask her to sign the shirt. She was a little disappointed when she didn't get to meet the gymnasts personally, but still, she had a great time. Mark enjoyed himself too, but I think he had more fun watching Emily than he did watching the gymnasts.
