"Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. . ."
As a parent, it is always touching to hear the heartfelt prayers of your children. It can also be funny and eye-opening. Last night during family prayer Bryce expressed his thanks that we "had food so that we don't have to starve to death." At other times, he has prayed that "bad people wouldn't break into the house through the windows and hurt us while we are all asleep in our beds" or that (and this is my personal favorite) "no one in the family would fall into lava and get burned up." It makes me wonder if his little mind is really so full of worry over apocalyptic catastrophes or if he just like to be thorough and cover all his bases, so to speak. Needless to say, we have become very careful to monitor what Bryce watches on TV. But, then again, our house has not been flooded by water nor blown away in a tornado, neither has anyone in our family been killed by snake or spider bites, or died of starvation so maybe we have Bryce to thank for that.
