As we anxiously wait to see if Natalie has been accepted to BYU (we should know by the end of the month), Natalie has been busy putting together an art portfolio to try for a talent award from BYU's Illustration Department. We have a friend in our ward who graduated in Illustration from BYU who helped her choose and clean up the 10 pieces she was required to submit. Winning is probably a long shot for an incoming Freshman, but I guess you never know. Here is what she submitted:
| Thie piece, called "Within Me", won a gold key in Scholastic's Young Writers and Artists competition for the Southeast Region and will move on to be judged nationally. |
| This one, called "Support", won a silver key from Scholastic. |
| "Opposites Attract" won a silver key from Scholastic and an Honorable Mention (and $75) in the Shelby County/University of Alabama High School Art Competition. |
