Today we squeezed Omi in the car with us and drove over to Stuebing to visit the Freilichtmuseum. It is an outdoor historical museum where old farmhouses and other original structures from all over Austria have been carefully brought and reconstructed so that visitors can get a feel of what country life was like in days gone by.

It is a beautiful walk through forests and gardens and really does make you feel as if you'd stepped back in time.

The girls enjoyed the atmosphere for a while but then stared getting pretty bored. I think the phrase "nursing home field trip" may have been thrown around once or twice. And I must admit, there were a lot of old people wandering around reminiscing about their childhoods, including our Omi.
After that, it was just packing up and goodbyes. Emily and Natalie took one last sit in the cherry tree they had been enjoying all week, and in the morning we were off.
All in all, our trip was an amazing experience. We came home totally worn out, but with enough chocolate to last for weeks, and memories to last a lifetime.
