Silver Ain't Too Shabby

Emily went to the Alabama State Gymnastics Championships on Saturday. She competed against about 40 other athletes from all over the state for the chance to represent Alabama at regionals in May. After watching some of the competition, I was doubtful that Emily would get a spot. She had a couple of mistakes on beam and bars, but still ended up earning the second highest all-around score, and was invited to join the state team, along with the 5 other top finishers. As a regionals qualifier, she received a special medal, a pink "'Bama" team leotard, and had a publicity photo taken with the team. She was so excited! In her age division she won 1st on floor, 2nd on vault and bars, 5th on beam (fell off, again!), and 2nd all-around.

So now the whole family will be heading down to Panama City to play at the beach and watch Emily at regionals on May 2nd. She will be competing against the top girls from 8 other southeastern states. The day after we get home from the beach, Emily will go to Space Camp with her school class for a week. What a life!
